Juventus could be set to rival Roma’s bid for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Luiz Adriano, according to reports.

Newspaper Tuttosport, as cited by website Football Italia, claims that the Bianconeri will target the Brazil international – capped twice – if they cannot secure a deal with Manchester City for Stevan Jovetić.

With Luiz Adriano’s contract expiring in June, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and VfL Wolfsburg are also believed to be keen, though Roma may attempt to move ahead of the chasing pack by trying to pick him up in the current transfer window as a replacement for Mattia Destro, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the club.

The number of teams reportedly interested in Luiz Adriano shouldn’t be a surprise, given his record at Shakhtar since arriving from Internacional, where he was part of a side that lifted the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup, for a reported fee of €3 million in March 2007.

The 27 year-old has won 16 major honours with the Hirnyky and scored 121 goals in 252 appearances, while this season he has netted 14 times in 20 matches and is currently the top scorer in the UEFA Champions League.
