Cruzeiro defender Dedé will miss the club’s Copa Libertadores campaign this year.
Dedé last played for Cruzeiro on November 5, and was recovering from a knee injury. Dedé was showing improvement after the initial treatment. He has a bone edema problem and has an injury in cartilage and new tests were done. It was then decided that he needs to undergo surgery in his posterior cruciate ligament. The recovery period is around 8 months and he will miss this year’s Copa Libertadores. Dedé’s operation is scheduled for Tuesday and will be led by José Luiz Runco, who has worked with the Brazilian national team before.
