Former Brazil international Juliano Belletti has backed Neymar to challenge for the Ballon d’Or in the near future.

Christiano Ronaldo won the prize last night for the second year running as Neymar came seventh in the overall vote. Belletti believes that the 22 year old Brazilian is only two or three seasons from playing at the same level.

“We have talent in Brazil,” Belletti told Arena SporTV, “Not only with Neymar, but with Oscar too, but it is a two way fight with Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. When Ronaldinho won, for example, besides the technical quality he had, which was unusual, he also had the power of decision. He scored important goals in important games. With Ronaldo it was the same thing. Neymar has not yet reached this stage of being protagonist, mainly in Barcelona, with Messi at his side. But it will not be long, he will soon be fighting among the three, with a chance of winning.”
