Flamengo are considering making a move for Milan owned forward Robinho, according to reports.

ESPN Brasil, as cited by website China, suggests that the 30 year-old could cut short his loan spell at Santos, which is set to end in June, due to the club’s financial problems and failure to pay wages on time.

Any move from Flamengo would be made at the behest of Head Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The 62 year-old managed Robinho during his time at Real Madrid and is believed to be keen on a reunion in Rio de Janeiro.

Whether an agreement could be found with Milan is however unclear, while Santos would be loathed to lose such an iconic player, regardless of their current issues.

Robinho managed three goals in 15 appearances for the Peixe in the Brasileirão last season. The Brazil international – capped 95 times – joined from Milan in August 2014 and has now had three different spell at Santos.

During his first, at the start of his career, he won the 2002 and 2004 Brasileirão titles, while he lifted the Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Paulista in 2010, when he was back on loan from Manchester City.

Throughout his career, Robinho has also won major honours at Real Madrid and Milan, as well as with Brazil.
