Alex Telles has insisted he is happy to stay at Galatasaray, despite rumoured interest from Flamengo.

The 22 year-old, who was signed from Grêmio for a reported fee of €6.15 million in January, has been linked with a move back to Brazil in recent days.

Telles was coached by Vanderlei Luxemburgo during his time at Grêmio across 2012 and 2013 and though he admits the veteran tactician has been a big influence on his development, the left full-back is seemingly not tempted by the possibility of a reunion at Flamengo, where Luxa now manages.

"It is an honour to be linked with Flamengo, they are a huge club with a massive supporter base," Telles told ESPN, as reported by website turkish-football.

"I learnt a lot under Luxemburgo at Grêmio, he gave me my self-confidence and made be believe in myself.

"I owe him so much and have the upmost respect for him.

"I do not get involved in any transfer talks anyway, that is why I have an agent, he takes care and talks about these matters.

"I am doing well in Europe right now, I want to stay here and prove myself.

"Galatasaray are a great club and we are on the rise."

After a good first season at Galatasaray, when he won the 2013-14 Ziraat Türkiye Kupası [Turkish Cup], Telles has enjoyed a mixed start to this campaign.

The Caxias do Sul native was initially given limited playing time under previous Head Coach Cesare Prandelli, though he seems to be more in favour following the arrival of Hamza Hamzaoğlu.
