Cruzeiro president Gilvan has confirmed that the new board of Santos haven’t yet agreed to the conditions of the deal.

Gilvan says that Leandro Damião was close to a loan move to Cruzeiro after previous Santos president Odílio Rodrigues agreed to what they had offered, but the newly elected Modesto Roma is not accepting those conditions. He was quoted by Globo Esporte: “Cruzeiro was close to a loan signing of Leandro Damião but the new president of Santos does not agree with the conditions of the deal. If he does not accept the same conditions, it will be difficult to close a deal.”

Cruzeiro are in the market for an high-profile striker as they look set to challenge for next year’s Copa Libertadores. They’ve already signed Cameroonian forward Joel from Coritiba.
