Major League Soccer outfit Portland Timbers have announced the signing of full-back Jeanderson.
The 23 year-old, who primarily plays on the left and can cover in midfield, was last with Boca da Mata-based club Santa Rita and has also previously had spells with Cruzeiro-RS, São José-PA and Rio Branco.
"The Portland Timbers have signed Brazilian defender Jeanderson Salvador Pereira, it was announced today," read a Portland Timbers press release, as reported by website Stumptown Footy.
"He will be added to the Timbers’ roster pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate [ITC] and P-1 visa. Per league and club policy, terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Jeanderson will occupy an international slot on the Timbers roster."
Jeanderson has been brought in to provide cover for Michael Harrington’s departure to Colorado Rapids and will likely compete with Jorge Villafaña, Jack Jewsbury and Liam Ridgewell for a starting berth.
Portland Timbers are coached by Caleb Porter and finished in 6th place in the 2014 MLS Western Conference.
