Barcelona Vice-President Javier Faus has insisted Neymar, along with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, will “never be sold."
Faus’ statement comes ahead of Barça’s final UEFA Champions League Group F match against Paris Saint-Germain at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
The board member, who specialises in the economic and strategic area, was quick to dismiss any potential interest from PSG in Barcelona’s star trio and also questions whether the Ligue 1 holders can reach the pinnacle of European football in the immediate future.
“Let them make us an offer, it"s their problem. Messi, Suárez and Neymar will never be sold," he told Mundo Deportivo, as reported by Football Espana.
“You can"t achieve in three years what other clubs do in 40. The rich don"t necessarily win the Champions League.
“They can be very competitive in five years, providing they stay organised. They must invest in training facilities and find more revenue streams.
“It all needs time, but we won"t be surpassed by PSG. The Champions League will be stronger with them, that"s all."
Suárez [€81 million] and Neymar [€57.10 million] reportedly cost Barcelona a combined fee of around €138.10 million when they were signed from Liverpool and Santos respectively.
The latter joined in July 2013 after winning six major honours in Brazil and was part of the Barça side that lifted the Supercopa de España last term.
This season, Neymar has really come to the fore, with eleven goals in 13 La Liga appearances. Suárez, in contrast, is yet to net domestically, but he has provided five assists.
