Corinthians Director of Football Edu has talked up the possibility of signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho on loan.

The Brazil international left the Todo Poderoso to join Spurs for a reported fee of €19.73 million in July 2013, but has struggled to make an impression in North London.

So far this season, Paulinho has featured in just three Premier League matches and with the outlook appearing bleak for the 26 year-old, Edu suggests Corinthians could be ready to offer him a return to Brazil.

“We know he [Paulinho] has not played much there," he told Diario Do Grande ABC.

“But he is an important player for Spurs, who made a big investment to sign him. If we were going to negotiate a deal, it would only be on loan. We could not buy him."
