Arsenal are leading Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign Benfica midfielder Talisca, according to reports.

The Daily Star claims that the Gunners had scouts watching the 20 year-old, as he netted the winner in Benfica’s 1-0 win over Monaco in their most recent Champions League outing.

That game is not the first Arsenal scouts have attended to watch Talisca and they are believed to be suitably impressed by his credentials.

The Brazil under-20 international, who was called up to the senior side on Tuesday, has scored nine goals in 14 appearances for Benfica so far this term and, as such, is also said to be attracting interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Daily Star suggests, however, that Arsenal are the favourites to sign him, though how much they would have to pay and whether Talisca would qualify for a work permit is currently unclear at this stage.
