Internazionale owned defender Álvaro Pereira has confirmed that he wants to remain with São Paulo.

The Uruguay international, capped 63 times, has been on loan at the Tricolor since January and is due to stay in Brazil until June 2015.

After a tough spell at Inter, where he fell out of favour, Pereira has rebuilt his reputation with São Paulo. This season, he’s made 19 appearances in the Brasileirão and was part of the side that won 2-1 at Criciúma in their last domestic outing.

With the 28 year-old contracted to Inter beyond the conclusion of his loan agreement, there is no guarantee São Paulo will be able to sign Pereira outright.

Despite the uncertainty however, he is hopeful that a deal can be struck.

“My future is tomorrow, but of course I would love to stay here,” he told SPFC.net.

“The first deadline is at the end of this calendar year, the second just before the end of the loan.”

Internazionale signed Pereira from Porto in August 2012 for a reported fee of €12 million. He scored once in 47 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
