Rumours in the Brazilian press this week have suggested that Ronaldo is seriously considering a move home to Brazil and more specifically his childhood team Flamengo.

On Thursday Carlos Alberto Parreira entered the speculation saying that he would be delighted to see the transfer materialise and telling the Lance newspaper: “It would be good for all – Ronaldo, Flamengo and the national team. “ he told them “It would be a privilege for the fans who didn’t have the chance to see Ronaldo in a Brazilian club’s shirt because he was very young when he played for Cruzeiro.”

As a child Ronaldo missed out at trials with Flamengo but throughout his career has stated his desire to don the famous red and black jersey. Whilst for Flamengo fans it still seems like a pipe dream right now, it is understood that Ronaldo’s agents may have held talks with the Carioca giants.

Flamengo vice-president Kleber Leite when queried on how they could fiance the deal suggested several high profile business partners would be interested in supporting the deal including Nike. “It’s an old dream of both Ronaldo and Flamengo,” Leite told GloboEsporte.com. “The person who doesn’t like to have Ronaldo in his squad is crazy. “Ronaldo is not happy and a player like him cannot remain unhappy in that way. Financially, everything is possible and Flamengo are ready to do everything possible to have him. “I talked to him some days ago and he told me he was interested in playing for Flamengo. I don’t know the points of his contract with Real Madrid and that will be the first step.”
