Benfica Head Coach Jorge Jesus has singled out midfielder Talisca for praise after he netted the winner in Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Monaco.

Os Encarnados needed a win to keep their hopes of progressing into the Champions League knock-out stages alive and Talisca’s 82nd minute strike left Jesus relieved, but also excited at the talent the Brazilian possesses.

“What’s important for me is that the team won,” he told UEFA.com. “Talisca scored; the team won it, rather than a single player, but it’s a fact that he’s very important for the goals he’s scoring.

“We’re always expecting him to do something. He’s a young lad, he’s learning.”

Benfica signed Talisca from Bahia for a reported fee of €4 million in July. Since then, the 20 year-old has scored eight goals in 13 appearances.
