Atlético Mineiro forward Diego Tardelli has admitted he was relieved to score his first goals for Brazil.

The 29 year-old netted a brace in the Seleção’s 2-0 win over Argentina in October and revealed in an interview with Esporte Espetacular that a journalist had inadvertently put pressure on him to break his duck, after going seven games without finding the net.

“A reporter reminded me a bit before the match [against Argentina] that I had not scored goals in the shirt of the national team," he stated "So I carried a big weight on my shoulders that day.

Now the joy is coming back. I had a chance to be the centre of attention for a day. It was remarkable, we always dream of scoring the winning goal, and I got both."
