Brazil international Fernandinho endured a miserable night as Manchester City were knocked out of the League Cup by Newcastle United on Wednesday.
The Magpies beat the Premier League champions 2-0 at the Etihad thanks to strikes from Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko and Fernandinho was at fault for the opening goal.
The midfielder was caught in possession in front of his own goal after just six minutes before the move was finished off by Aarons.
Sissoko then gave Alan Pardew’s side the victory when he poked the ball past Willy Caballero in the second half to book their place in the last eight of the competition.
