Elano was pleased to assist team-mates Jeje Lalpekhlua and Stiven Mendoza in Chennaiyin FC’s 5-1 win over Mumbai City FC.

The former Brazil international created both forward’s goals and scored twice himself, as Marco Materazzi’s side ran out comfortable victors.

Speaking after the game, Elano praised Lalpekhlua and Mendoza and was also happy that his free-kick practice has been rewarded.

“It would have been impossible to assist them without their brilliant runs. In fact, all the players supported each other. It was a team effort!” he said, as reported by the Indian Super League’s official website.

“I practice free-kicks from different positions in training so all that hard work is paying off.”

Chennaiyin’s victory over Mumbai was their third in four matches and leaves them 2nd in the Indian Super League, two points adrift of leaders Atlético de Kolkata.
