Genoa are leading the chase to sign Corinthians defender Gil, according to reports.
Pianetagenoa1893 claims that the Grifoni face competition from fellow Serie A outfits Lazio, Napoli and Sassuolo for the 27 year-old, but are currently favourites to secure an agreement.
Gil joined Corinthians from Valenciennes for a reported fee of €3.5 million in January 2013 and has gone on to net three goals in 66 appearances.
During his time with the Timão, the imposing centre-back has won the 2013 Campeonato Paulista, the 2013 Recopa Sudamericana and been capped three times by Brazil.
Despite his success, Corinthians have been unable to tie him down to a new deal and with Gil’s current contract expiring in December, they are powerless to stop him leaving on a free transfer.
