Midfielder Lucas Leiva has admitted he could leave Liverpool in the near future.

The 27 year-old has played for just 150 minutes so far this season, with manager Brendan Rodgers preferring to use captain Steven Gerrard in a deeper role.

With Lucas’ situation unlikely to improve following Emre Can’s return to fitness, the Brazil international is seemingly open to a move elsewhere.

Serie A side Napoli were reported to have bid for Lucas in the summer and he suggests that he would be keen on working under former manager Rafael Benítez once more.

“I’m not speaking to anyone at the moment because I’m under contract, but I am looking around, given I am not playing,” he told Radio Marca.

“There was contact with Napoli last summer, but the parties didn’t reach a satisfactory agreement. It’s true that Benítez has always held me in high esteem.”
