Barcelona Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta has stated that he expects to hold talks with Daniel Alves over a possible new contract.
The 31 year-old defender’s current deal expires in June 2015, but despite strong suggestions that he has already agreed to join Manchester United, Zubizarreta insists that Barcelona have not ruled out keeping him.
"We"re talking about the contract with him," he told AS. "We"ll see what the road is we"ll take. It"s also influenced by the decision of FIFA [the transfer ban].
"The best thing is that we come to see an incisive Dani, that"s important."
Despite the arrival of fellow Brazilian Douglas, Alves has made eleven appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season and is expected to start against Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday.
