Cruzeiro forward Júlio Baptista has insisted he has fond memories of his time at Real Madrid.

The former Brazil international endured a mixed four years with the La Liga outfit and though he wishes it had gone better, he still holds the club in high regard.

“The club will always be in my heart,” he told MARCA. “Real Madrid left a mark on me, although I didn’t do quite as well as I’d hoped.”

In a wide ranging interview, Baptista took time to praise defender Sergio Ramos, who he believes has become a real leader.

“He’s an incredible centre-back, a classic,” stated the 33 year-old. “He’s one of the leaders at Real and for Spain. His confidence, strength and ability are spectacular.”

As well as Ramos, Baptista also singled out Cristiano Ronaldo for praise.

“He’s a real animal,” he stated. “My nickname ‘The Beast’ pales into insignificance alongside him. He’s from another planet. I’ve never seen a goal scorer like him.”
