Santos forward Leandro Damião could be handed a six match ban for pulling his own shirt.

The Brazil international was caught on camera trying to intimate that a Criciúma player was grabbing his jersey at a corner and has been found guilty of attempting to mislead the referee by a tribunal, who recommend a suspension of one to six matches.

Damião may now miss Santos’s Brasileirão tie’s against Palmeiras, Fluminense, Chapecoense, Internacional, Corinthians and Cruzeiro and would only return for the trip to Atlético Paranaense on November 19 if he’s given the maximum punishment.

This episode further adds to the disappointing start Damião has made at Santos. The 25 year-old was signed from Internacional for a reported fee of €13 million in December, but has so far managed just four goals in 18 appearances for the Peixe.
