Defender Maicon believes errors from referee Gianluca Rocchi affected Roma’s 3-2 defeat to Juventus.

The Italian official gave the Old Lady two controversial penalties, while Leonardo Bonucci’s winner could have been ruled out, as Arturo Vidal was in an offside position.

Speaking to the Corriere della Sera, Maicon concedes that while he doesn’t think Rocchi made the perceived mistakes deliberately, he does feel they were decisive.

“I cannot think the referees get it wrong on purpose, as we all try to do our job as best we can,” stated the Brazil international.

“I try to think we made a mistake, knowing that against Juve you pay for errors more than against other teams.

“Having said that, the referee’s mistakes did affect the final result.”
