Liverpool and Milan are being considered as potential opponents for São Paulo goalkeeper Rogério Ceni’s testimonial, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims that the two European giants are the preferred options for Ceni, who is set to retire at the end of the season.

The game is penciled in to take place in January, which could be a problem for Liverpool given their potential for fixture congestion, though Milan have a lighter schedule and may be more logistically violable opponents.

Ceni, at the age of 41, is calling it a day after 22 years at São Paulo. The former Brazil international – capped 16 times – has scored 61 goals in 543 appearances for the Tricolor and this season is their second top scorer on seven goals.

During his time at São Paulo, Ceni has won 16 majors honours, including the 2005 FIFA Club World Cup final against Liverpool, and was also part of the Brazil squads that lifted the 2002 FIFA World Cup and 2007 FIFA Confederations Cup.
