Hellas Verona forward Nenê claims Milan wanted to sign him in January 2010.
The 31 year-old, who was at Cagliari at the time, suggests then President Massimo Cellino blocked the Rossoneri’s bid to purchase him in the winter transfer window.
“After six months at Cagliari I had some contact with Milan, but one day Cellino decided I would have to stay,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I had arrived in Italy from Portugal and had the chance to join Milan, a club that nobody would turn down. It would’ve been the opportunity of a lifetime, but I had a contract and could do nothing.”
Nenê would go on to score 26 goals in 129 appearances for Cagliari, before leaving to join Verona on a free transfer in July.
