Internacional increased the pressure on Coritiba Head Coach Celso Roth with a 4-2 victory at the Estádio José Pinheiro Borda.

Goals from Alex, Andrés D’Alessandro and an Eduardo Sasha brace condemned Coritiba to a third consecutive defeat and leaves them bottom of the Brasileirão on 23 points.

For the Colorado, the win moves them up to second, where they are six points adrift of Cruzeiro. Marcelo Oliveira’s side were surprisingly held 0-0 by Sport Recife, who have lost just once at home this season.

São Paulo could have taken advantage of Cruzeiro’s slip up, but they instead lost 3-1 at home to Fluminense and have now not won since beating the Celeste in round 20.

Such a poor run of form has seen them fall adrift of both Cruzeiro and Internacional, while it’s also allowed Atlético Mineiro and Grêmio to join them on 43 points.

Both sides are amongst the league’s form teams and defeated Vitória and Botafogo respectively this weekend.

At the other end of the standings, Criciúma held Chapecoense to a 1-1 draw, Bahia beat Flamengo, who haven’t won in five matches, 2-1, while Figueirense halted Palmeiras’ mini revival.

Elsewhere, Santos beat Goiás 2-0 and a Cléo penalty gave Atlético Paranaense an important 1-0 win over Corinthians.
