Barcelona handed a debut to defender Douglas this evening but he couldn’t help them breakdown Malaga as they played out a stalemate at La Rosaleda.

It was the first time the Catalan club had failed to pick up a victory under new boss Luis Enrique, since he took charge in the summer.

Neymar was fit to play despite being forced off at the weekend during the 5-0 rout over Levante but it finished goalless.

Douglas, who signed from Sao Paulo at the end of August, was given his debut at full-back and impressed before he was replaced by fellow Brazilian Adriano in the 73rd minute.

The 24-year-old was a surprise signing by Barcelona in the transfer window and he will now hope for more opportunities under Enrique in the various games coming up.

The new head coach was satisfied with the performance of the full-back, he spoke to Football Espana about Douglas’ debut.

Enrique said: “Douglas? He was at the same level as his team mates.”
