Barcelona defender Douglas believes he has improved defensively and is quickly adapting to life at the Catalan club.

The 24 year-old, who was signed for €4 million plus €1.5 million in add-ons from São Paulo in August, is yet to make his debut, but is delighted with the facilities at his disposal and eager to keep learning from Head Coach Luis Enrique.

“Everything is completely different and ever since I landed it has been great. Going into training is out of this world because everything is so organised and the planning is faultless,” he told the club’s official website, as reported by Football Espana.

“Defensively, under Luis Enrique I am improving every day and adapting quickly to the tactical requirements here. I’m very keen to improve and I know what I am capable of showing in a Barcelona shirt.”

Douglas was included in the match day squad for the first time as Barcelona opened their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 1-0 win over APOEL Nicosia.

Despite being with the club for under a month, the former Goiás right full-back is confident he can impress when called upon.

“It’s difficult to say I’m ready as I’ve only just arrived and have to get used to the city, while the style of play is also very different – but I feel like I am ready!”
