Brazilian Hulk showed he is over the injury which ruled him out of international duty recently, by scoring against Benfica to help Zenit St Petersburg to a 2-0 win in the Champions League.

The attacker had to pull out of new head coach Dunga’s first squad, after suffering a leg muscle injury in a Russian Premier League match.

However, the 28-year-old seems back up to full fitness now as he inspired André Villas-Boas’ team to a two-nil victory over Portuguese outfit Benfica.

Benfica hadn’t lost at Estádio da Luz for 52-matches but that record was shattered by Hulk and co on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian international was booed before kick-off, due to his links with Porto previously, but silenced the home crowd after just five minutes.

Hulk ran onto Oleg Shatov’s through ball before sumptuously dinking over Benfica’s Brazilian goalkeeper Artur and into the net, Artur would later receive a straight red card.

The Zenit hitman hit the post a minute later through a low free-kick and he continued to be a menace all game for Benfica.

Hulk hit the post again later on in the game before Zenit doubled their advantage and secured an impressive opening day victory in the Champions League, thanks in part to the much maligned Brazilian.
