Ronaldinho Gaúcho has said he has been surprised at the reception he has received in Mexico since his arrival in the country.

The 34-year-old playmaker has joined Querétaro and was officially presented to the club’s fans last Friday evening.

The former Barcelona star gave an interview to Globo Esporte yesterday, and he expressed the happiness he has found in Mexico despite only being in the country for a few days.

The player walked out in front of a full house on Friday and all the official shirts with his name and number printed on the back were sold out.

He also explained he chose to play in Mexico because of the family connections.

“Mexico has been a part of my family for a long time. My brother lived in Mexico, he played here. My whole family likes Mexico,” he said.

The veteran said he has also been received well by his new club. He is likely to make his debut for them tomorrow night, against Tigres, in a Mexican Cup tie.

“I had the opportunity to speak with the coach, he is a guy that has played football, we spoke and I saw that this team plays a style of football that I like. I think that everything is going to work out,” he said.
