Diego Costa has escaped punishment for alleged aggression during Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Swansea City on Saturday.

The Brazilian born Spain forward has made a fantastic start to life in the Premier League, netting seven times in his opening four outings.

Costa scored a hat-trick on Saturday but became embroiled in a physical altercation with Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Tussling for the ball, images made it appear as if Costa had struck his opponent across the face, but the referee, Kevin Friend, did not stop the game.

As reported by The Daily Mail, the Football Association has the power to punish aggressive behaviour on the football pitch not initially seen and dealt with by the referee. If Friend admits that he in fact missed the incident entirely, Costa could face disciplinary action.

The striker is well known for his fiery temper. During his spell at Atletico Madrid, he received an incredibly 68 yellow cards and was sent off on seven occasions.

He has already received two yellow cards in his opening four matches for the London club.
