The Mexican club Querétaro has defended its new signing, Ronaldinho. after the player was allegedly called a monkey by a Mexican politician.
On Sunday night, the club condemned the comments and said that this kind of conduct needs to be eradicated from the society.
“Racism, xenophobia, gender inequality and other discriminatory practices are a form of violence that we must eradicate as a society,” the club said in a statement.
The new team of the Brazilian star also asked the authorities to take exemplary action against Carlos Treviño Manuel Núñez, author of the racist comments.
“After the unfortunate publication held by Mr. Carlos Manuel Treviño Núñez on social networks insulting our player Ronaldo de Assis Moreira” Ronaldinho; we urge the authorities to take action on the matter,” added the club.
