Goals from Rogerio Ceni and Alan Kardec gave Sao Paulo a merited 2-0 victory against league leaders Cruzeiro at the Morumbi. The gap between the two clubs is now a mere four points.
Yesterday Sao Paulo and Murcy Ramalho kept their hopes alive of winning this season’s Brazilian title after beating Cruzeiro in a crunch game in front of 58,627 fans. By many, the game was dubbed a true final.
In truth, Sao Paulo was the dominant force for the entire 90 minutes. Ceni and Kardec scored the goals. Ceni proved yet again to be a pillar for Sao Paulo with key saves from attempts by Everton Ribeiro and Ricardo Goulart.
Kaka also contributed massively to Sao Paulo’s win. He roamed around the pitch, seeminlgy with four lungs. Kaka helped out in defense, drove the midfield and aided in attack.
Cruzeiro sit top of the table with 46 points. Sao Paulo has 42 points.
