Fluminense forward Fred has insisted the jeering he receives from opposition fans is motivating him.

The 30 year-old, who netted twice in Flu’s 3-0 win over Palmeiras on Saturday, is being singled out by supporters for his poor showing at the World Cup, but is eager to use the heckling to his advantage.

“That has motivated me,” he said, as reported by NDTV Sports. “It’s great to play in a stadium that is full. When I score it makes them think, ‘He has scored again’.”

“It’s a part of football. I knew that it was going to be a long process. It was a heavy load to bear but I’m getting over it.”
