Genoa have released a statement denying they are facing disciplinary action over the signing of Anselmo from Palmeiras in July 2012.

The Serie A outfit are alleged to have missed an instalment on the €900,000 fee they agreed to pay for the midfielder – now at Joinville, but insist they have not been contacted by FIFA regarding any irregularities.

“With regards to the news divulged by Brazilian media suggesting the club will face disciplinary action due to the transfer of player Anselmo from Palmeiras, we wish to point out Genoa Cfc have received no notification of disciplinary proceedings from FIFA,” read a statement from the club.

“Any reference to hypothetical penalties or other sanctions are entirely without foundation.”
