Brazil Head Coach Dunga has blamed the MetLife Stadium pitch for his side’s mixed performance in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Ecuador.
The Seleção won the contest thanks to a strike from Willian, but Dunga claims his forwards were left frustrated by a difficult surface.
“Our forwards had difficulties today, as the pitch was not ideal for our pacey strikers,” he said, as reported by GOAL.com.
“But I don’t think there were negatives. We are more focused, and seemed more aware on the field.
“The players need more playing time in order to have more confidence; to feel safer and to risk more plays.
“But, for the first time, Brazil played without a poacher up front.
“We opted for quicker and more agile players and we will follow this strategy.”
