Roberto Carlos, one of Brazil’s best left-backs of all time, has stated that Marcelo remains Brazil’s best left-back.
For a number of seasons now the left-back position has been a problematic one for Brazil. After Roberto Carlos’ retirement the vacuum has never really been properly filled.
Marcelo was heavily critized during the World Cup for leaving too much space when venturing forward, but Roberto Carlos still believes that Marcelo is the best player for the position.
“Marcelo is in the first team in my opinion and Filipe Luis will have his opportunity,” said Roberto Carlos in an exclusive interview to ESPN Brasil. The former Real Madrid player is currently coaching Sivassport in Turkey.
“I think Marcelo needs to be maintained. Alex Sandro is a good player, but having to choose I go with Marcelo and Filipe Luis.
