Filipe Luís: Other teams are better than Brazil now

The Chelsea ace hasn't featured for Brazil for some time

Chelsea left-back Filipe Luís believes Brazil must accept that other teams are better than them now.

The 29-year-old was selected for the World Cup but watched his nation suffer humiliation against Germany and Holland.

The host nation lost 7-1 to the World Cup winners before Holland stuffed them 3-0 in the third/fourth place play-off.

Filipe Luís has now been recalled to the national team, with Dunga the new head coach, and he believes Brazil must be humble.

The Chelsea ace spoke to Goal.com, he said: “The time has come for us to keep our feet firmly on the ground and accept that the World Cup was not a good time for us.

“Speaking with all humility the world, Brazil is most powerful international team in the world.

“It has more world titles than anyone else… but we must be humble and admit that perhaps now some other teams are better.”

Filipe Luís will hope to be given an opportunity to stake a claim for a starting birth on Friday as Brazil face Colombia in Miami.
