Ahead of the friendly games against Colombia and Ecuador, Filipe Luis has stated that Brazil needs to find its identity again after the World Cup fiasco.

Both in 2010 and 2014, Filipe Luis was close to making the elite squad of 23 players, who’d defend Brazil at the World Cup. Luis, however, ended up not being called up.

Carlos Dunga has shown renewed faith in the left-back by taking him to the U.S. for the friendly games against Colombia and Ecuador. Luis is grateful for the opportunity he is being given and realizes that these are difficult times for Brazil.

"It is obviously a moment to put the feet on the ground and to know that the World Cup moment was not good," said Luis to reporters in Miami.

"Brazil got to the semis, but did not have a positive result," said Luis. "We need to have humility. The beautiful game that Brazil has, will return and from there the shirt will start to weigh on our opponents. But Brazil needs to recuperate the identity it lost with that defeat [7-1 against Germany]."
