Defender Bressan "wanted to stay" at Grêmio despite reported Queens Park Rangers interestMilton Casco of Newell's Old Boys [R] challenges Bressan of Grêmio during their Copa Libertadores match on March 19, 2014 -
Grêmio defender Bressan has admitted his preference was always to stay at the Porto Alegre-based club.
The 21 year-old had been strongly linked with a loan move to Queens Park Rangers, but after the deal reportedly fell through, he will now remain with Grêmio.
"I wanted to stay at Grêmio, but of course the move didn't happen for other reasons,” he told Radio Gaucha, as reported by Sky Sports.
“I still have a lot to do for Grêmio and the club can do a lot for me.”
Bressan came to prominence last season and made 36 appearances in the Brasileirão. This term, however, he’s featured just eight times, with Werley, Rhodolfo, Saimon and Pedro Geromel all competing for a starting berth.
