A hat-trick from 20 year-old forward Erik helped Goiás to a 3-1 win over Atlético Paranaense.

The Verdão, who had started the season strongly, were on a run of six consecutive losses before the game at the Estádio Serra Dourada on Sunday.

For Atlético Paranaense, their own winless run now stretches to four games and they have dropped down to 10th.

Elsewhere, on Saturday Marcelo Moreno netted a brace to help leaders Cruzeiro to a 4-2 win over Chapecoense and Internacional halted Palmeiras" temporary revival with a 1-0 victory at the Allianz Parque.

That defeat, a fourth in five outings, leaves Palmeiras just above the relegation zone. Criciúma, who were defeated 2-0 by Sport Recife, are level with them on 17 points, while Coritiba are one behind after holding Atlético Mineiro.

Bahia and Vitória, the two sides who are propping up the standings, lost against Grêmio and Flamengo respectively.

For the latter, it was a fifth win in a row and further confirmation of the excellent impact Head Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has had since returning to the club.

One of the veteran tacticians former employees – Santos, faired slightly worse with a 1-0 defeat at Botafogo that leaves them 11th, while goalkeeper Rogério Ceni netted from the penalty spot to rescue a 1-1 draw for São Paulo against Figueirense.
