Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho admits it was nice to have a break during the summer after discussing his non stop last 18 months.

The former Corinthians ace was able to relax for the first time in a while after the World Cup but admits the nature of football means he isn’t use to relaxing.

After playing in the FIFA Club World Cup in December 2012 with Corinthians, the following summer Paulinho represented Brazil in the Confederations Cup.

The 26-year-old joined Spurs shortly afterwards and at times struggled with the rigours of the Premier League before appearing for his country in the World Cup this summer.

After the competition of the tournament in July he was able to relax and he now is ready to help Spurs compete in their various competitions this season.

Speaking to Spurs TV, Paulinho said: “I haven’t stopped but this is football, you can stop after when you finish.

“It is still hard but it is football you have to be ready to be fit and for all the moments every game.

“I want to help the team in the Premier League, the Europa League so it is very good for me (to score) but for the team also.”
