Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho admitted it was important for him to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season yesterday evening.
The Brazil international endured a tough first campaign in England but impressed in the Europa League against AEL Limassol last night at White Hart Lane.
The 26-year-old assisted Harry Kane’s opener before scoring the second with a low drilled effort from inside the area.
Tottenham went on to cruise to a 3-0 win and Paulinho revealed his delight when he spoke to Spurs TV after the game, he said: “It was good to win. I think the first half was a little bit hard but Harry Kane scored the first.
“Then in the second half we had a lot of chances and we scored two more.
“It is very important for me (to score). My first game at home and now I am fit and 100 per cent because I have been training for two weeks to give the staff the energy.”
Paulinho insisted the team now must start to prepare for Sunday’s visit of Liverpool.
The Brazil international concluded: “It is important for us to get a good win and now we have to prepare for the next game against Liverpool.”
