Chelsea have received an injury scare with sources close to the club suggesting star striker Diego Costa could face an extended spell on the sidelines.

The Brazilian-born Spanish international has started life well at Stamford Bridge, scoring twice in two Premier League games for the west London club.

However, Goal.com believe that Costa could be out for up to six weeks after pulling up with a hamstring injury during a training session on Wednesday.

Goal go on to report that the extent of the problem hasn’t been determined yet but it is expected that the 25-year-old will be out for some weeks.

The news would be a huge blow to Chelsea boss José Mourinho, who has praised his new forward several times since his summer switch from Atlético Madrid.

Mourinho will hope Costa’s injury isn’t too serious, though, and he can take his place in the squad to face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
