Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho believes up to six teams can contest the battle for the Premier League title this season.

The Brazilian won the Premier League in his first season in England last year and he admits the experience of that campaign will help his side this time around.

The 29-year-old labeled the triumph last season as “amazing” and hopes they can achieve similar glory this campaign too.

Fernandinho was speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “I think five or six teams can fight for the title again.

“The fight for the title in the last month of the Premier League was amazing, especially for us because we won our last five games to win the title.

“It was good experience for me in my first season in the Premier League to fight to the very end with a big team like Liverpool and I hope we can do the same again this season.”

Manchester City have made the perfect start to the Premier League season, achieving two victories from two.

However, Fernandinho has only made two appearances off the bench thus far, therefore he will be hoping to earn his first start next weekend against Stoke City.
