Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz believes he wouldn’t have been as happy as he is now had he moved to Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

The Brazilian was linked with the Bundesliga and La Liga club before he made the switch to France this summer.

Barcelona, in particular, were reportedly chasing the former Chelsea defender’s signature for an extended amount of time.

However, it was PSG who stumped up the £50 million transfer fee for the 27-year-old and when Luiz spoke to Telefoot he revealed his happiness at his decision.

Goal.com quoted the Brazil international, he said: “I’m sure I’ll be happier here in Paris than if I had moved to Barcelona or Munich.

“I really believe PSG is the club of the future, that’s why I’m happy to be here and I think I’ll stay here for many years.”

Luiz will hope to show that his team are the “club of the future” next weekend when they face Saint Etienne in Ligue 1 and after drawing two of their first three league games, PSG and Luiz will aim to provide a positive result.
