Dani Alves has revealed that he will be staying with Barcelona this season after huge speculation throughout the summer insisting he would depart the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian had been expected to leave Spain with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool among the clubs interested.

However, Football Espana quoted the 32-year-old who admitted he couldn’t leave the club in their current situation.

Alves said: “I’ve decided to stay here with Barça. The day will come when I need to leave, but I’d like to leave here with the feeling that people believe that they have had a professional at the club.

“If I left now I’d be going without that feeling. It has seemed that everything going on at the club has been my fault.

“I live from year to year. When questions were asked I said that I needed to speak with the manager. I wanted to understand his intentions.”

The Brazilian admitted he hasn’t always felt supported throughout the summer but has choose to ignore the numerous stories that have circulated.

Alves added: “I haven’t felt supported with everything that’s been going on. I have had reports that I was on the market, that they wanted to sign others – but I’m not one for telling stories.”
