Liverpool’s Coutinho discusses need to continue improving
Philippe Coutinho has reiterated that he needs to continue improving as the dust settles following his recall to the Brazil national team.
The Liverpool playmaker received the call from new head coach Dunga on Tuesday to appear in the latest squad for friendlies against Ecuador and Colombia in September.
The call-up is just rewards for the 22-year-old following some excellent pre-season form and after his excellent 2013/14 campaign.
When the young Brazilian spoke to the official club website, a few days prior to his call-up, he said: “I’m constantly trying to grow and show improvement.
“It’s important to frequently show something new as there are so many players in constant competition in football.”
Coutinho will now have to face added competition for a place in the Liverpool team and to carry on in the Brazil squad.
It isn’t yet predicted whether he will be afforded a starting role in Dunga’s team but the 22-year-old is certain to get an opportunity in the September friendly games and will want to tie down a regular position in the Brazil squad.
