Philippe Coutinho praises Liverpool ‘family’ for helping improve his confidence
Brazilian Philippe Coutinho praised his Liverpool “family” after receiving his first international call-up for nearly four years yesterday.
The 22-year-old playmaker was included in Dunga’s Brazil squad for the friendlies against Ecuador and Colombia in September and revealed his delight to the official club website.
Coutinho admitted his confident has improved and that has been down to how settled he feels at Anfield.
"I've improved my confidence quite a bit," the 22-year-old said.
"It is very important, as a player can only give his best when he has confidence in himself. Playing consecutive games with the first team [when I first arrived] was also helpful.
"I found a family when I first arrived here. This club really is like a family and this helped me feel very comfortable when I first came to Liverpool.”
Coutinho went on to praise former England captain Steven Gerrard and admitted he and many others have made him feel comfortable in Liverpool.
The Brazilian added: "Playing alongside great players such as our captain, Steven Gerrard, and seeing how simple, humble and hard-working people they are also helped me learn and feel comfortable here."
