Brazilian Philippe Coutinho is targeting more goals for Liverpool this season as he looks to build on his successful 2013/14 campaign.

The playmaker was one of the most impressive players in the Premier League last season and it led to many pundits calling for him to be selected by Brazil.

That wasn’t forthcoming and Coutinho is now looking to score more goals this year after finding the net only five times in the league last season.

Speaking to the official club website, the 22-year-old said: “There’s a lot to improve and one of my objectives for this season is to score more goals.

“I also want to increase my participation during games. Both are things I try to work hard on and improve in training.”

Coutinho went on to discuss the Champions League and how it is important the team builds on the good campaign they enjoyed last season.

The Brazilian added: “I am ready and I hope all goes well this season with me and mainly with the team.

“We want to have a good campaign, as we had last year. It’ll be particularly important this year with having the Champions League to play.”
