Former Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar is allegedly in talks with Portuguese giants Benfica about a move to the Lisbon team, although he is still under contract at English Premier team Q.P.R. until 2016.
The former Inter Milan stopper, 34, was one of a select few Brazilians to impress at the recent World Cup, and is desperate to have one more go in top flight European football before a possible return to his homeland.
A loan move to FC Toronto helped cesar gain match sharpness earlier in the year ahead of the World Cup, although it is not known whether or not a move to Benfica would be on a permanent or temporary basis.
Benfica have just sold their number one keeper Jan Oblak to Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, and are on the lookout for a replacement .
Cesar called time on his international career after Brazil’s exit at the semi-final stage; he won 87 caps for his country.
